On Friday, our first Program Car delivery was to Monty, who currently manages the Wells House and works part-time for NAPA. He was brought to us by Frederick County Workforce Services, which was represented by Micha Hagans, who also serves on our Board Of Directors.
Monty was so excited to get his 2002 Toyota Corolla and affirmed that “Everyone to whom much was given, of him, much will be required.” He also shared with us that those who get this opportunity to receive a car from Second Chances Garage can either take the vehicle and drive to the next level or drive back to their problems. He’s choosing to drive to the next level with his first plan for his new-to-him car being to drive himself to the dentist that afternoon.
During the presentation, Micha shared that those they serve at Workforce Services pay, on average, $24 for one way with Uber. Imagine paying that 40 times a month just to go to work 5 days a week. That’s nearly $1,000 a month that people like Monty will no longer have to pay thanks to the generosity of our donors. If you’d like to donate your car to help others like Monty, visit our website to complete the application or call us to arrange the donation – 240.724.1919.
Our primary mission is to provide safe and reliable cars to low-income, wage-earning families in Frederick County. We receive car donations to make this dream a reality. Learn more about what happens when you donate a car.
